As many as 250 Sports Direct workers are to bring claims for breach of contract after being excluded from a multimillion-pound bonus scheme because they were on zero-hours contracts. Permanent workers were paid out roughly £160m in shares in 2013 as part of a bonus scheme and experts believe the retailer may be faced with a £4m pay-out if it is found guilty of breach of contract. Elizabeth George of Leigh Day, which will lead the claims, said: "We believe that they had a contractual right to the bonus because regardless of the zero-hours label that the company has given their contracts they were all permanent employees of the company for the necessary number of years."
