The biggest 200 law firms in the UK exceeded the £20bn revenue barrier for the first time last year, with firms that have both US headquarters and London outposts beginning to overtake their British counterparts. The Lawyer magazine says the largest 200 firms posted total revenue of £20.2bn in the 2013-14 financial year, a 6% increase on the previous 12 months. According to the magazine’s research, the London offices of the largest US firms are now bigger in their own right than some UK firms following the uptick in work. US firms Latham & Watkins and White & Case took 23rd and 24th places in The Lawyer's rankings, with £128.5m and £126m generated by their London offices respectively, putting them ahead of UK firms such as Nabarro, in 28th with revenue of £115.5m, or Mishcon de Reya, 40th with £97.8m.
