The Solicitors Regulation Authority has been forced to delete from its website references to professional guidance on drawing up Sharia-compliant wills after receiving complaints that it was effectively enshrining Islamic law in the legal system. The Law Society, which issued the guidance, condemned the criticism as inaccurate and ill-informed, but the SRA has now written to the Lawyers' Secular Society saying that "given the concerns that have been raised ... the reference has now been removed".
