Neuberger backs cameras

Posted By: James

Lord Neuberger, president of the Supreme Court, has told the legal profession not to be "too precious" about allowing court proceedings to be filmed. He suggests that the arrival of cameras in hearings that do not feature witnesses and juries was part of a move towards greater accessibility. In a lecture in Australia, he said he did not think cameras affected his behaviour in court hearings. "We must ensure that the integrity of the trial process is maintained, and we must avoid turning the trial process into entertainment," he said. "However, we must also avoid being too precious about innovations such as cameras in court."
