According to research from RPC, a growing number of law firms are being sued for professional negligence, with the number almost tripling in the last year. The research found many of the cases involve property and conveyancing disputes and include claims by subprime mortgage lenders. It comes as the deadline looms for pursuing such claims arising from losses in the financial crisis in 2008. The figures show High Court cases for professional negligence jumped from 143 in 2012-13 to 418 in the following year.
