A judge has ruled that Lloyds Bank was wrong to apply rising overdraft fees to a man’s bank account that drove him deep into debt. Penalties totaled over £700, preventing the man from paying other bills and thereby destroying his finances. The bank was ordered to repay £743 in charges plus interest to the individual, who was represented by Howlett Clarke. Although the decision was deemed by the judge to only apply to the claimant, it is being appealed – potentially opening the floodgates to countless similar claims.
