Weil, Gotshal & Manges has issued an apology to staff after an April Fool’s email was sent to them stating that, in a drive to improve work-life balance in a notoriously demanding industry, emails would “not be transmitted” between 11pm and 6am, at weekends or while staff were on holiday. The implication that work-free weekends and evenings are a laughably absurd idea did not go down well with some hard-pressed staff, one of whom called it: “the worst joke of all time” and another who said it was “making a mockery of our hard work”.
