Judge rejects phone-hacking legal costs appeal

Charlie Brooks, the husband of former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks, has failed in his bid to recover £600,000 in legal fees incurred as a co-defendant in the phone-hacking trial. Mr Justice Saunders said Brooks' "incredibly stupid" behaviour in hiding material from detectives searching his property "brought suspicion on himself and on others”. He also rejected an application for costs from Stuart Kuttner, the News of the World’s former managing editor.
