The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has launched a consultation on proposals to limit the circumstances in which parties may be granted postponement of a hearing in the employment tribunal. The Government is proposing the measures in response to concerns about the length of tribunal proceedings. The consultation closes on 12 March 2015.
Why is it that the Government proactively seek to implement changes which could be classed as minutia when they appear impotent to address the central and important issues that over 70% of Tribunal Claimants are denied access to justice in the Employment Tribunal system by the introduction of Tribunal Fees?
